We were so pleased with how the Art Walk worked out. All reports from the merchants were that there was plenty of foot traffic and receptions were well attended. We sent Chris out with a camera and took some pictures...we think he did a great job. Thank you to Copy Central and KNA Copy Center for help with our fliers. Balloons and refreshments donated by our awesome local Safeway. Plenty of helpers everywhere including Patrick Mercer, Tom Taylor, Christine Taylor, Chris Granillo, Miranda Fernandez-Taylor, Stephanie Hernandez and everyone who attended, liked our page, our posts and had a great time! Thank you, Thank you. Stay tuned for our Fall Event this October!
The Solano Art Walk roster is set and we have 15 exhibitions and events for your amusement. Please join us Saturday the 8th. Come out and support this grassroots artwalk movement, it's galleries and art in North Berkeley. We have plans to do the event seasonally so let's make this one a success and role into another fun one in the Fall. For a map of participating vendors please download the PDF below. The Solano Art Walk is warming up with 4 shows this Saturday the 13th. Though the street can be a long walk for seeing all 4 of the shows, with a combination of driving and walking, you could visit all four easily. I'd recommend visiting Albany Arts first since it begins the earliest, at 6...then driving up to Art Thou and Nielsen Arts...then if you're feeling jaunty after a glass or two of wine take a stroll up to Open Fine Art Gallery to see the new space.
The Art Thou Mixed Bag show continues with new works and a mid-exhibition reception for Marc Thorp. Thorp's minimalist industrial sculptures and mixed media pastels are a must see and a fine addition to this group show.
7-10 Saturday the 13th
Art Thou Gallery
1533 Solano Avenue, Berkeley
Nielsen Arts presents a benefit for the Golden Gate Audubon Society. Come out and see some fine birding photography, hear a presentation by the Audubon Society and connect with other birders.
7-9 Saturday the 13th
Tyler Hoare the famous mudflat sculptor of Red Baron fame...has created a signature series of mudflat birds to compliment our Audubon Show. A portion of Tyler's sales will also go to benefit the Golden Gate Audubon Society
1537 Solano Avenue
Thank you for taking the time to read this Blog and keep an interest on what we think is a growing and evolving Art Scene on and around Solano Avenue. You've found this page and that's a start, but if you could also take the time to visit and "like" the Facebook and Twitter pages of our participating galleries. This Blog, The Solano Art Walk Twitter page and The Solano Art Walk Facebook page are great ways to connect with Art events up and down Solano. Eventually we'll have a regularly scheduled "Art Walk", but for now we're just consolidating our Marketing/Social Media powers and trying to generate an interest in a monthly event. We are tentatively scheduled for a second saturday in June, but we're still in wait and see mode. Whether or not that happens this will remain a resource for keeping up with events in the area.
How can you help?
Click on the next page of the directory of galleries and visit their social media sites, webpages and/or stop by the brick and mortar store to see what the current shows are and encourage the business to continue with the Solano Art Walk.
Also, please take some pictures of Solano Avenue.
Use hashtags #SAW #Solanoartwalk or #solanoavenue on Instagram or Twitter for your images or post them on our FB Page.
Please share these resources with your friends...On Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, this Blog. Spread the Word and let's grow this opportunity together. Thank you for your support.
